Setting up LPR Printing
This document will walk you through how to set up the Splash printer for LPR printing. If AppleTalk is down, you could try this. You will need the printer ip number (get this from support) and the printer description file. But beware! When trying to print this way to the Splash, sometimes it works okay, other times you crash.
You can follow the same steps to set up another printer for LPR. All you need are the printer ip number and the printer description file. Unlike printing LPR to the Splash, I've not seen this create crashing problems.
1. Open the app Desktop Printer Utility. If you donÕt have this, ask me for it.
2. Using LaserWriter 8, select Printer (LPR). Click OK.

3. Click Change for PPD File and select the correct printer description file (You must have this file in your Extensions/Printer Descriptions already).

4. Click Change for Printer Selection and fill in the ip number for the Printer Address. For the Splash only, enter Splash_print for the Queue. Click Verify. If it does not locate the printer, contact support. Click OK.

5. Click Create.. and then Quit this app.
6. For most printers, you are done at this point. For the Splash, continue on.
7. Select the Desktop printer you just created. Go to the Apple Menu Bar (the top bar) and select Printing/Change setup.

8. Change DocuColor 5750 Support to NO.
9. Click OK. YouÕre done.
Good luck.
